Resumo

With the aim of reconstructing the evolution of the inner part of Ría de Muros since the Middle Holocene, a multiproxy study (grain size, elemental composition, carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios and radiocarbon dating) has been performed on a sediment core. Four sedimentary facies have been identified. The oldest facies, coarse-grained and with a strong terrestrial signature, is associated to the progradation of the delta-fan of Maior River during a period of stillstand. The second facies is finegrained and more marine-influenced and was deposited during a period of reduced local hydrodynamic energy, linked to a progression of the sea-level rise. This facies would have been deposited between 2940 and 1750 cal. yr BP. The third facies shows the highest marine influence, started to deposit during sealevel rise and shows the effect of intense upwelling reaching the inner ria. The most recent facies, characterized by anthropogenic and diagenetic signatures, started to deposit around 565 cal. yr BP.
