Abstract

Based on the technical characteristics required of automobiles for safety and environmental impact reasons, and after reviewing the current situation of the Periodical Technical Inspection (PTI) sector, the thesis focuses on determining future trends for PTI and proposing strategies to address them successfully. With regard to the situation of the PTI, the raison of being of this activity, the applicable basic legislation, the types of inspections carried out and the composition of the current sector (structure, companies, stations and lines, activity, employment, billing, impact on society...) are analysed. Future trends are determined based on the new technologies incorporated into the automobile, new inspection needs, and changes in the context of PTI service provision, which are identified, and considering the most significant aspects to be taken into account by PTI station operating companies, such as service provision, inspection activity, customer service, facilities, equipment, data processing and communication, and operational and business management
