Abstract

Postural balance is presented in the primary education as a content to be promoted between 6 and 12 years old. Improvement is crucial in individuals developement and becomes more important in the maturation stages. A didactical proposal is presented (4 weeks / 8 sessions) in 4th grade (n = 16) (8.56 years) in a public center in Galicia (Spain), in order to develop the postural balance through an intervention based on a cooperative learning methodology. An evaluation of the intervention was carried out from the educational vision and related to the current legislative canons, an evaluation by means of a traditional balance test (modified flamenco test) and from the students' self-perception with an individual survey. Survey results reveal that cooperative learning improved student participation (68.75%) in all tasks, students enjoyed the methodology (87.50%) and students perceived a high improvement in their balance (62.50%). Teacher evaluation are positive in balance and very positive in classroom socio-affective relationships. Modified flamenco test indicates a significant improvement after the intervention (pretest = 4.94; posttest = 2.88). Finally, can say that the intervention was positive from all points of view evaluated.
