Abstract

The current learning and socio-technical environment has led to the spreading of e-Learning systems known as Learning Management Systems. These systems consist of a central application to deal with the sequencing of the tasks of students and teachers, and another set of learning applications that allow them to communicate, carry out experiments, etc. Nevertheless, despite their widespread use these systems show usability problems when both kinds of applications require different authentication processes. Indeed, users have to type different sets of credentials, preventing them from focusing their efforts in their tasks and increasing the so-called “password stress”. Some initiatives have dealed with the problem of granting delegated authorizations, but their requirements are different from those that arise in e-Learning environments and therefore they cannot be applied. In this paper we introduce Reverse OAuth, a protocol for allowing the granting of authorizations to Access protected resources in e-Learning environments.
