Abstract

Today’s world demands more knowledge about the different implications and consequences of technologicalprocesses. For this, it is necessary to know about their positive and negative aspects. Inthis sense, we consider it necessary to investigate the impact of new technologies on different humangroups and the possible opportunities for improvement. This study aims to analyse some digital competencesin adult migrants living in the city of Ourense. The study is exploratory and the research methodologyused is quantitative. The sample corresponds to a total of 114 adult migrants (80 women and 34men), to whom a survey on the development of their digital-technological competence was applied. Themain results and conclusions show that the surveyed migrants have low digital skills and knowledge.The least developed fields for migrants are related to aspects of security and communication on theinternet. In addition, there is a significant digital divide for the development of online education and managementactivities. It is therefore necessary to generate dynamic and efficient processes of diagnosis,training and education to reduce or eliminate these gaps. In short, it is desirable to implement effectivesocial policies for digital inclusion
