Resumo

Trátase dun capítulo comisionado polas editoras de The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Pragmatics sobre a avaliación de elementos pragmáticos en traducións de poesía publicada. O artigo orixinal en inglés vai dirixido a persoas que coñecen os termos pragmáticos, polo que non se explican en profundidade. Refire a orixe dos termos asociación e connotación e avoga polo seu uso na avaliación de poesía traducida, no sentido de que a asociación está determinada pola comunidade e que a connotación xurde dunha experiencia persoal. Fai uso dos termos pragmáticos de relevancia, inferencia e implicatura para a avaliación de obras traducidas. Presenta exemplos de poesía en tradución galego-inglés, inglés-castelán e inglés-sueco, onde se evidencian desvíos do orixinal que se deben a fallos de equivalencia pragmática.
