Abstract

In recent years there has been a growth in the educational offer, therefore there is greater competitiveness in the area; this situation has forced private Higher Education Institutions to evaluate the environment and make comparisons with other institutions to improve and be able to remain in a demanding market. The aim of this research is to explain how intellectual capital, knowledge management, innovation and marketing influence the competitiveness of Private HEIs in Michoacán. The methodology used to measure the interrelationships between the variables was the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique, which is a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The data were obtained from a structured survey applied to the managers of the institutions, obtaining a sample of 72 valid questionnaires. The results indicate that the variable that most affects the competitiveness of private HEIs in Michoacán is marketing, secondly knowledge management, thirdly intellectual capital and in the case of the innovation variable it was determined that it has no incidence. As a whole, the variables explain 52.7% of the competitiveness of private HEIs in Michoacán.
