Resumo

Solo Travel is one of the types of tourism that has been growing the most in recent years, despite this, it continues to be a little explored area of research in the field of tourism, hospitality and events. The objective of this study is to analyze Instagram posts that contain the hashtag #solotravel through photographic analysis. The first step has been to organize the publications around the hashtag #solotravel. Afterwards, a content analysis of these publications was carried out based on temporal, geographical, demographic and language dimensions. Subsequently, a semiotic analysis has been carried out to see how the previous dimensions are related to the images. From the analysis carried out, it can be inferred that many of the publications that use the #solotravel hashtag do so to reach a larger audience; Men post with the hashtag #solotravel in almost the same proportion as women; experience, achievement, empowerment, self-realization, leaving the comfort zone or exceeding limits, are the greatest motivations and rewards of traveling alone and, finally, safety occupies most of the advice offered by people who have already traveled alone, especially among women.
