Educated at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne (Germany), Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) and Complutense (Spain), I became associate professor at the University of Vigo in 1999, and since 2015 I am in charge of the International José Saramago Chair (CJS), internationally funded by the Instituto Camões, the António de Almeida Foundation and the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias. Through the CJS, I founded the JANGADA network (the 9 worldwide existing Saramago chairs, 5 other chairs, 4 research centres). Since 2019, I am also coordinating BiFeGa, the main research group in the Humanities at UVigo, as well as the Interuniversitary Doctoral Programme in Literary Studies (UVIGO and UDC). I have directed several research projects funded by national as well as by international public and private entities, and I am also a collaborating researcher at the Instituto de Literatura Comparada (ILCML, UPorto), as well as of The Interuniversity Centre for Research on Atlantic Landscapes and Cultures (CISPAC, USC/UDC/UVIGO). My research focusses on Fernando Pessoa, José Saramago, Galician/Lusophone Cultural Studies, Contemporary Poetry and Translation Theory. Since 2012, I am editor-in-chief of the Studies in Ibero-Romance Literature and Translatology series (Frank&Timme).
