Doctor by the Universidade de Vigo with the thesis Procesamiento de cerámicas avanzadas mediante láser. Análisis de los procesos físicos involucrados en el corte por fusión 2004. Supervised by Dr. Juan María Pou Saracho, Dr. Fernando Lusquiños Rodríguez.

Félix Quintero Martínez is member of the LaserON Research Group on Laser Applications, were he is mainly involved in Laser Materials Processing from macro-processes such as cutting and surface treatment to nano-scale processes. He, together with other colleagues from the Research Group on Laser Applications, Applied Physics Dept. of University of Vigo, is co-inventor of the Cofiblas technique, a novel method developed to produce continuous glass nanofibers by laser melting, and, also, among others, the Laser Spinning technique aimed to produce mats of glass nanofibers. His current research activity is focused on the laser processing of ceramics and glasses, especially in the application of the Cofiblas technique to produce glass nanofibers with outstanding mechanical properties and their applications. Member of the Technical Committee on Glass Fibers of the International Commission on Glass.
