Doctor by the Universidade de Vigo with the thesis Aplicación de microsatélites en estimas de flujo génico y estructura poblacional de mytilus galloprovincialis 2005. Supervised by Dr. Pablo Presa Martínez.

Ángel Pérez Diz, an associate professor of Genetics at the University of Vigo, Spain, conducts research in evolutionary biology, focusing on the functional consequences of genetic changes and the mechanisms underlying reproductive isolation, adaptation, and speciation. His work also encompasses studies on doubly uniparental inheritance (DUI) of mtDNA, nuclear-mitochondrial genome coevolution, and the molecular impacts of climate change and pollution on marine organisms. He employs multi-omics approaches to address these research areas.
