Resumo

This article presents an analysis of selective learning difficulties in mathematics shown by five children, selected according to the diagnosis criteria in international classification systems of recent diseases in terms of basic component disruption of McCloskey's modular approach. It also documents the usefulness of the methodology used by Cognitive Neuropsychology, based on thorough case study and the use of dissociations and double dissociations, as systematic of efficient numerical processing and calculation ability assessment in subjects during cognitive development In this sense we present the Spanish adaptation of Johns Hopkins University Dyscalculia Battery, Alimosa and Macaruso (1991) which is duly clarifying as for the nature of the deficit and the affected underlying cognitive structure.
