Resumo

Este artigo aprofunda na variedade de funções que cumprem as redes sociais no contexto da saúde. Facebook continua a ser a rede social com mais utilizadores no nível mundial pelo qual constitui o objeto de análise das contas oficiais de organismos públicos da saúde de cinco países da União Europeia. O objetivo do estudo é identificar como essas instituições sanitárias comunicam-se, analisando seus perfis com cerca de 2000 publicações de 2017. Há notáveis diferenças em quanto a volume e ritmo de publicações por país, bem como em níveis de engagement. Destaca-se o conteúdo audiovisual e observam-se semelhanças em quanto às patologias sobre as quais publica informações. Um padrão comum em termos de engagement não é detectado pelo que se infere que os conteúdos vêm marcados por agendas nacionais.
