Belén Rubio Armesto has been a Full Professor of Stratigraphy in the Department of Marine Geosciences and Land Planning at the University of Vigo since 2009. She has been a professor at the University of Vigo since 1991, teaching at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. She has supervised 6 doctoral theses and 13 bachelor's theses or master's degree projects. As a researcher, she is a member of the Marine and Environmental Geology group, focusing her research on sedimentology in coastal and deep-sea environments, with an emphasis on metal contamination, diagenetic changes, and paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic evolution. With five six-year research periods and one in knowledge transfer, she has been involved in over 30 research projects, serving as the principal investigator in 9 of them, at regional, national, and European levels, and about 20 contracts with companies. She has published over 100 scientific works, including articles in journals and book chapters, of which more than 55 are in JCR journals (h-index = 22). She has participated in more than a dozen oceanographic campaigns and has made over 200 contributions to conferences. In the realm of management, she served as the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences for 5 years (2013-2018) and has been an active member of the university's Governing Council since 2013. She also served as the secretary of the Conference of Deans of Marine Sciences from its establishment in 2015 until June 2018. Additionally, she was the department secretary for more than twelve years. She held the position of Vice-Rector for Research from 2018 to 2022 and is currently the Vice-Rector for Research, Transfer, and Innovation since June 2022. She is also a member of the executive committee of CRUE for R&D&I and the coordinator of the Divulga Network. She has participated in project evaluation committees, faculty evaluation committees, scholarship committees, and more. She has experience in organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops, having been involved in the organization of 8 international conferences, one of which she coordinated. She is a regular reviewer of articles in JCR journals in the fields of geosciences and environmental sciences.
