Doctor by the Universidade de Vigo with the thesis Reutilización de requisitos funcionales de sistemas distribuidos utilizando técnicas de descripción formal 2002. Supervised by Dr. José Juan Pazos Arias.

Rebeca P. Díaz Redondo, Professor at the Department of Telematics Engineering, is a Telecommunications Engineer (1997) and PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Vigo (2002). Since 2012 she belongs to the atlanTTic research center (https://atlanttic.uvigo.es/ at UVIGO) and coordinates the Information & Computing Lab (I&CLab, https://iclab.det.uvigo.es/). Regarding her teaching activity, Rebeca teaches in the Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication Technologies Engineering and in the Master's Degree in Telecommunication Engineering. In addition, she has supervised 11 doctoral theses and is currently supervising 6 PhD students. Her research activity focuses on the definition of appropriate privacy-aware solutions in the field of distributed DL/ML (Deep Learning/Machine Learning). This line of research also addresses the application of incremental learning, reinforcement learning and xAI (Explainable Artificial Intelligence) in distributed and collaborative computing contexts. She is particularly interested in the application of these approaches for IoT solutions, taking into account specific protocols and distributed computing solutions at the edge (Edge/Fog/Mist computing). The combination of the above technologies supports decision making in different sectors, such as smart cities, sensor orchestration, Industry 4.0, financial markets, etc. Rebeca has participated in more than 50 projects and 25 technology transfer works through contracts with companies and/or public institutions. The results of her research work were disseminated through more than 70 articles published in JCR journals. She is currently involved in the scientific and technical activities of several national and European research and educational projects. In the social aspects of her research, Rebeca is involved in initiatives to fight against sexism in digital media and to preserve ethics in machine learning. Finally, she is the Dean of the School of Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Vigo since March 2021. Short CV at https://iclab.det.uvigo.es/CVA-Rebeca.pdf
