VELASCO MARTINEZ

Lecturer of Contemporary History at the University of Vigo. PhD in Contemporary History from the inter-university program coordinated by the UAM, he has been a visiting researcher at the University of Buenos Aires, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Alcalá de Henares, Rey Juan Carlos University, at the Higher Council for Scientific Research, Columbia University, Barnard College, Center for War Studies, University College Dublin and the College of Mexico. Luis Velasco has been a professor at the universities of Malaga and Pablo de Olavide of Seville. He was a researcher of the Spanish Ministry of Science in the Department of Contemporary and American History at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he was also a member of its parlament and its governing council, as well as director of the Residence Hall «Rodriguez Cadarso». Within the private sphere, he has worked in the publishing sector as well as an adviser and consultant. He currently combines teaching at the University of Vigo with his position as coordinator of the Master's Degree in Security, Peace and International Conflicts of the USC and the IEEE. His research focuses on the construction process of Spanish nationalism throughout the 20th century and on the history of conflicts.
